I got an email about the beta of SS Version 8. I unreservedly recommend Sighthound Surveillance Ltd. From the initial survey, to the final install Callum was very informative, knowledgable, professional and tidy when working. It is true that the UI in the cameras is not as good as SS, but having a working system was worth it to me. I would highly reccomened Callum and his company. I scrapped it for the in-camera motion detection and I haven’t looked back. The SS motion detection was giving me tons and tons of false-positives (from wind and shadows, as you describe), and worse it was also missing actual motion. I have a PIR motion detector under the side porch. Moving shadows and plants keep triggering. On windy days I get nearly constant recording. So I just had SS do the motion detection. The HIKVision can do line crossing, but SS doesn’t recognize that kind of event. Why? Is this because the Foscam motion detection is better than what you can do with Surveillance Station? The Foscam cameras were in the list of devices used in the recent internet outage, mine where no as I always change the admin password and they are not directly accessible over the internet without going through BlueIris. Like I said above, I use BlueIris software for camera management. My Amcrest cameras are close to 8-9 months old, no issue. I can tell you I have outdoor Foscam cameras that are almost 2 years old, no problem except for he watermark. The Foscam cameras had less grainy night vision. So FYI, it is fixed now, but I still don’t trust them.Īs for the cameras, about half of my cameras are the 1080p Foscam POE and the other half are a mix between the 3MP and 4MP Amcrest. It took them 7-8 months to acknowledge the issue and resolve it.

Basically it said FOSCAM in the bottom right corner. I’ll explain.īasically someone at Foscam thought no one would care if they put a watermark on you footage that you couldn’t remove. Maybe I’m over reacting, but I didn’t like the way they handled themselves.

I am a little bias because I’ve had a bad experience with Foscam. Like what we do and want to support Newsshooter?
